Windows 2000 is fully Plug-and-Play
capable, after an installation you will get several
messages on:

Like on NT4, the Plug-and-Play support is handled as a Service,
which can be checked/
verified under the Control-Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer
Management:

Be warned: the Plug-and-Play support is very aggresive:
On a test-system with NT4, the 3COM 3C509B network card was
configured as NON-PnP,
but when Windows2000 beta-3 was installed as additional operating
system, it re-configured
the 3C509B into Plug-and-Play mode and configured it to its own
rules, completely ignoring
the previous manually defined settings (which caused a problem
when restarting the system
with NT4, where the network-card settings did now not match
anymore).
With Windows2000, you have lost the
control over your system !
Windows2000 is now in FULL control !
