Network Access / Mapping

Via "Computers Near Me", you have access to all shared resources:

From a Windows95 system
in the same workgroup:
On the Windows95 System:
first, the windows for the
network Windows2000 System
is displayed without any content
Then, the Password request for the
IPC$ share is display:
Reason: When this system was booted up,
a Username was entered, which is NOT
defined in the Windows2000 User-Manager, so this user has NO
permission to access the Windows 2000
system.

To map a network drive, right-click
on the network share-name
(NOT on the computer and not on
any folder inside the share)

and select "Map Network Drive"
Select the drive character to
be used, decide on whether to
"Reconnect at Logon"
The Network-drive in
"My Computer"

If you selected during the mapping to "Reconnect at logon", the system sharing the resource should
be
running at the next restart / relogon to avoid error messages.

When creating a mapping via a right-click on "My Network Places"
or via the command prompt "NET USE" command, then Windows2000
supports
deep-mapping.
