Configuration of Direct-Cable Connection (DCC)

for additional information:
See Parallel Technologies' Web Site for detailed information for
Windows 95/98/2000/ME DirectParallel
® DCC connections:
There are some very helpful Step-By-Step Setup Instructions for setting up
DirectParallel® Direct Cable Connection (DCC) on Windows 95/98/2000/ME:

Something now was brought to my attention:

When checking in the
"Control-Panel" under
"Modems", only real
modems are listed.

But the "System"-applet of the "Control-Panel" shows more:

Each possible "Direct-Cable Connection"-method is listed as a "Modem",
and has properties, which can be configured:

Change the max.Speed
from the default of
"19.200" to
"115.000"

That should give your more speed: approx. 9-10 Kbytes/sec !
(approx. 6 x faster than using the default 19.200)

However, to getup to this increased throughput, you need to have on both systems a COM-port with
FIFO-buffering:
the
16550A ( using the older version based on the 8250 will no be so fast).
This can be verified with the MSD-utility:
